Under the partnership, Nagad will facilitate swift and seamless delivery of inward remittances routed through UCB to beneficiaries’ mobile wallets across the country, particularly in rural and remote regions. Expatriates can send their hard-earned money home through international exchange houses, Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), or banks. Nagad customers can access these funds 24/7 from anywhere in the country.

Kaspersky uncovered a novel Android malware campaign targeting vehicle head units, marking the first documented case of an infection chain specifically designed for these systems. The malware was delivered through compromised firmware update mechanisms in multiple Android-based head units powered by DoFun.

Economist Dr Fahmida Khatun, distinguished fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), said the transport sector should keep pace with the digitalisation of banking, tax payments and government services. “Digital systems can make mobility much easier and more hassle-free,” she said. But digitalisation must be inclusive, she added, stressing the need to ensure accessibility, data security, simple procedures, proper pricing and logistics.

Uber Parcel includes features designed to provide greater visibility and convenience throughout the delivery journey. Users can track their parcel in real time using GPS, while a PIN verification system helps ensure that parcels are handed over to the intended recipient. Users can also add delivery instructions to help make pickups and drop-offs smoother.

“The latest CoolClient variant represents a significant evolution of the malware. Rather than operating solely as a user-mode backdoor with plugin support, it now deploys and communicates with a kernel-mode driver that extends its capabilities beyond earlier versions. Through this driver, CoolClient can hide and protect processes, files and registry objects, as well as filter selected network information, making detection and analysis considerably more difficult. For the targeted organization, that means the malware can remain active on a compromised system while masking key traces of its presence and limiting defenders’ ability to inspect or remove it,” said Fareed Radzi, Security Researcher at Kaspersky GReAT.

Consumers across APAC are highly active online and increasingly aware of digital risks. A recent B2C Pulse Survey by Kaspersky Market Intelligence found that APAC consumers outpace global consumers in online shopping (80% vs 71%), digital finance (72% vs 70%), digital entertainment (70% vs 62%), and digital communication (68% vs 61%).

Nagad typically verifies customer identities using National Identity Cards (NIDs). Since students under 18 do not possess NIDs, this agreement allows them to use their birth certificates to open accounts. As per central bank guidelines, individuals aged 14 to 18 receiving government stipends or financial allowances are mandated to use birth registration certificates to open digital financial accounts.

Under the agreement, Nagad will maintain a Trust Cum Settlement Account with Bengal Commercial Bank. Additionally, various digital financial services, such as Add Money, remittance disbursement, and transactions through the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB), will become more seamless.
