The session, titled "Financfy Presents Real World Accounting, From Classroom to Cash Book", was organized by Financfy, a sister concern of Vivasoft Ltd. in collaboration with the Business Information and Technology Club of Army IBA as part of the institute’s culture day.
Accounting education builds the foundation for understanding financial records, reporting and business transactions. While much of this learning still relies on manual methods and tools like Excel, modern workplaces increasingly use accounting software to manage daily financial operations. For students, learning how accounting principles are applied through real business software can help bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice.
With that focus, students at Army IBA, Savar Cantonment, took part in a practical accounting session on September 22, aimed at connecting classroom learning with real-world accounting practices.
The session, titled "Financfy Presents Real World Accounting, From Classroom to Cash Book", was organized by Financfy, a sister concern of Vivasoft Ltd. in collaboration with the Business Information and Technology Club of Army IBA as part of the institute's culture day.
Brigadier General Syed Mohammad Shahed Rahman, Director of AIBA, attended the session as the chief guest. Afzal Hossain, Assistant Professor of CSE at AIBA, joined as the special guest, along with faculty members from the Finance department.
Around 100 students joined the session. Most were final-year students, while students from the sixth and seventh semesters also took part.
Welcoming the initiative, Afzal Hossain said it was encouraging to see locally developed technology being made available to students in Bangladesh. "We are glad Bangladesh has such resources and companies who are working for their own country, making their own software for Bangladesh," he said.
Connecting Classroom Knowledge with Workplace Practice
The session focused on helping students understand how the accounting knowledge they gain in university is used in a professional environment. Students were introduced to the difference between academic accounting exercises and the way financial activities are handled inside modern businesses.
The discussion covered the transition from student life to professional life, the practical skills expected from new accounting professionals and the growing use of software in day-to-day financial operations. Students also saw how accounting principles they already study can be applied through a digital accounting system.
Md. Tartibur Rashid, Head of Business Development at Financfy, encouraged students to combine their academic knowledge with practical software skills. "Excel will take you to the interview board, knowing an accounting software will take you to the chair," he said.
Practicing Real-World Accounting During University
A key part of the initiative is giving students an opportunity to continue practicing after the session. Financfy announced that students taking Accounting and Finance as their major will be able to use Financfy Pro features free of charge for educational purposes.
This will allow students to practice with a working accounting platform while they are still completing their academic studies.
Students will also be able to use the platform for relevant academic assignments. Access will initially be provided through faculty members and will gradually be arranged for different batches.
Reflecting on the session, Army IBA third-year BBA student Arbin Akter Isha said, “The session helped connect our academic learning with practical corporate and technology-driven work. Initiatives like this can help students understand the professional world beyond the classroom and prepare more confidently for their future careers.”
The session was conducted by Financfy's Consultant Amit Debnath, Business Lead Abul Khair Molla, Head of Business Development Md. Tartibur Rashid, Head of Support Raju Ahamed Raj, SQA Engineer Tanha Tahity, Business Development representatives Shahariear Ahmed and Md. Tanjilur Rahman, along with Vivasoft Limited's Digital Marketing Supervisor Kazi Md. Abid and Sr Content Strategist Rasadul Islam Mozumder Tanzil.
